Year of  the Bird  

 Help us celebrate 2018 the Year Of the Bird (National Geographic Declaration) and the arrival of Spring with some interesting family friendly activities.

May 6 The Buffalo Lake Nature Club will complete a survey of the Ewing and Erskine Lakes Important Bird and Biodiversity Area.

       Meet at Waverly Hall Erskine at 8am  

Katie will brief us on instructions and protocol we will divide into groups and drive out to the assigned area. 

    Each group will complete the survey (observations of land use and wildlife) We meet back at the hall about 12:30 for debriefing, sharing observations and lunch. Please bring your own luck  beverages and dessert will be provided.

     The more people the better as this area is large and there are 3 separate lakes to observe: the more eyes the better.  

    Bird sightings with GPS locations can be submitted with your ebird/ibird apps just make sure you make note for the IBA survey and inform Katie.    

      Please bring you have them : bird apps or guide books, spotting scopes , binoculars, safety vest or bright coloured clothing. Wear appropriate clothes for weather conditions.

• May 17 join us for the annual stroll/drive at the Shuckburgh Slough -meet at the  west end of 44 th Street, Stettler at 6 pm for bird and wildlife watching.We will have the sporting scope set up  but please bring binoculars if you have them.

    We will return to St. George's Anglican Church  4817 51 St. Stettler  for the monthly meeting at 7:30  Guest Speakers : Battle River Watershed Alliance will share the ‘Finding Common Ground’ film and present our club with the OTIS award; recognizing our stewardship work with the IBA.
