It was a wonderful evening for a picnic! The evening was warm with a light wind, allowing everyone to sit outside, eat, and chat.

And no mosquitoes to bother us!

With a great turnout from a number of our club members, we enjoyed good food and good conversations throughout.

Everyone brought something to share, from cookies to salads to chili and squares! Mark H. brought out his portable barbecue for anyone who wanted to have a hot dog or chilli (or cheese) sausage to enjoy.

Conversations ranged from the wildlife we saw to life in general.

Afterwards, we had a roll call where everyone shared their late spring sightings. Someone had a Baltimore Oriole visit their backyard, while another had a ruffed grouse hen with her fledgling youngsters.

A curious Ring-billed Gull stopped by at a safe distance to see if it could snag some food to eat. We also observed fly-byes of Franklin Gulls, Tree Sparrows, other Ring-billed Gulls, as well as a couple of small flocks of Pelicans.

The evening ended with a group photo, and a few stayed back to visit the Rochon Sands beach to catch a view of the Pelicans, a resident Killdeer and a pair of Eared Grebes. The Barn Swallows were also busy catching bugs in the evening skies.
